Alexander's Late Goal Lifts Quakers to 1-1 Men's Soccer Draw

GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/19/10) -- Guilford College senior Jordan Alexander scored with 3:16 left in regulation to force a 1-1 tie in Wednesday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match with visiting Emory & Henry College. Neither team tallied in overtime, which sent the Quakers (5-3-2, 1-1-1 ODAC) to their second tie in as many matches.

The Wasps (1-6-2, 0-2-1 ODAC) scored first when Seb Marley scored 14 seconds before halftime.

Guilford outshot Emory & Henry, 13-1, in the second half and overtime, but Wasps goalie Ryan Wiehl made five of his six saves in that time to keep the Quakers at bay.

Guilford hosts league-rival Washington and Lee University Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the final game of the first Armfield Athletic Center tripleheader. The Quakers' football team hosts Washington and Lee at 1:00 p.m. and the women's soccer team takes on visiting Randolph-Macon College Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
