SALEM, Va. (10/19/10) -- Roanoke College scored two early second-half goals to take a 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer win over visiting Guilford College Tuesday night. The Maroons (13-3-1, 7-1-1 ODAC) maintained first place in the ODAC standings with their sixth victory in seven matches. Guilford slips to 9-4-3 (5-2-1 ODAC) with its first loss in eight matches (4-1-3).
Roanoke's Michael Stark scored 4:40 into the second half off a feed by Cameron Travalini. The play came off a corner kick and beat Guilford goalie Marko Mandalinic to the upper right corner. Less than 10 minutes later, the Maroons got an insurance tally when Jason Ryan netted his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Carl Leist.
The Maroons enjoyed a 17-2 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Guilford's Mandalinic made a career-high seven saves in goal. His counterpart, Avery Makel, made one save for the shutout.
