BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Lily Colley scored five goals and three assists in Guilford College's 12-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Bridgewater College Saturday.
Save a three-minute stretch early in the game when the score was tied, the Quakers (8-3) led throughout to keep their league record perfect at 6-0. Bridgewater drops to 4-9 (1-5 ODAC).
Colley netted the second half's first two goals, extending the visitors' edge to 8-3. The Eagles drew no closer than four goals for the rest of the game. Colley assisted on three of the Quakers' final four scores, including Anna Howard's, which opened a 12-5 edge with 8:51 left in regulation.
Guilford's Garcia tallied three points (2 goals, 1 assist) and shared game-high honors with four draw controls. Teammate Becca Colley also scored twice and picked up three draws. Rookie goaltender Sammi Milbourn turned in her second straight strong game with 12 saves and two ground balls.
Caroline Fletcher's three goals and four draw controls paced Bridgewater. Claire Palmero-Re added a goal and two assist and Jesse Colligan tallied twice. Rachel Gruber stopped 19 Guilford shots and led all students with five ground balls.
Guilford hosts league-rival Hollins University Wednesday (4/9) at 7:00 p.m.
