Methodist Takes 8-1 Women's Tennis Win Over Guilford

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Host Methodist University cruised to an 8-1 women's tennis win over visiting Guilford College Saturday. The Monarchs improved to 4-2 on the year. Guilford evens its record at 1-1.

Ashton Walker was one of Methodist's three two-time winners on the day. She teamed with Davi Barbour for an 8-2 victory over Guilford's top tandem of Katie Claggett and Leigh Fishman. Walker later posted a 6-3, 6-0, win over Claggett at first singles.

Barbour also won both of her matches, as did Sam Munze. Barbour claimed a 6-2, 6-1 fourth-singles win over Guilford's Chandler MacDonald. Munze teamed with Han Le for an 8-0 number-two doubles victory and then took down Fishman at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Guilford's Makayla McLaurin won her fifth-singles bout, 6-2, 6-3, over Methodist's Allison Himes.
