Emory & Henry Takes 8-1 Women's Tennis Win From Guilford

EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College claimed three close doubles contests and went on for an 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis victory over visiting Guilford College Saturday afternoon.

Lauren Riner and Liz Graham escaped with an 8-6 win over Katie Claggett and Nora Prokosch at first doubles for the Wasps (5-8, 2-3 ODAC). Savanna Summer and Bri Pierce took the second-doubles tilt, 8-5, over the Quakers' Brooklyn Hopkins and Makayla McLaurin. Katie Meade and Kaitlyn Sheaves won at third doubles, 8-4, over Guilford's Chandler MacDonald and Leigh Fishman.

Graham won the second-singles match, 6-4, 6-0, over Guilford's Prokosch. The Wasps captured five of the six singles contests in straight sets.

Claggett accounted for Guilford's lone point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Riner at first singles.

Coach Dave McCain's Quakers (1-10, 0-7 ODAC) play at Lynchburg College April 9 at 2:00 p.m.
