LYNCHBURG, Va. – Randolph College's women's tennis team took a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over visiting Guilford College Saturday. The WildCats (11-3, 8-2 ODAC) matched the school record for ODAC wins in a season. Guilford drops to 1-13, 0-9 in the ODAC.
Randolph dropped just three games in winning the three doubles contests. Keyu Jin and Aubrey Hawn took an 8-2 decision from the Quakers' Katie Claggett and Nora Prokosch at first doubles. Jenna Sweet and Ashley Schmitz did not allow a point in their second-doubles triumph over the Quakers' Alex Giddens and Brooklyn Hopkins. Kristen Hamilton and Samantha Dickerson downed Guilford's Makayla McLaurin and Maureen Smith, 8-1, at third doubles.
Sweet (#3), Schmitz (#4) and Dickerson (#6) each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective singles flights. Claggett battled in a 7-5 opening-set loss to Jin at first singles, but the Wildcats' rookie won the second set, 6-0.
Coach Dave McCain's Quakers close the season Sunday (4/23) with a league contest versus visiting Virginia Wesleyan College at 2:00 p.m.
