GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College dropped a hard-fought nonconference match to visiting Maryville College Friday night, 25-10, 25-21, 25-21.
The Quakers (4-12) were led by Emma Gunn's seven kills on .429 hitting. Mary Moody came up with a game-high 10 kills and also added eight digs in the match. Taylor Whitley recorded 31 assists and Laura Kopald chipped in with eight kills. Senior libero Taylor Phillips paced the Quakers with 18 pickups.
The Scots (11-5) extended their win streak to six with the help of freshman Amanda Gunlikson's eight kills on .636 hitting. Kara Strickland added nine kills and seven digs. Maryville got some extra help from another freshman, Lauren Bonee, who had 28 assists and seven digs. Kristy Newman recorded eight kills and eight digs and Katherine Nadler picked up a team-high 16 digs.
Guilford will be back in action on Tuesday (10/4) as it takes on take on crosstown rival Greensboro College in Ragan-Brown Field House at 7:00 p.m.
