GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College's volleyball team defeated visiting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Randolph College Wednesday, 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, for its fourth win in the last five games.
The Quakers (6-12, 2-2 ODAC) earned the win behind 14 kills and .414 hitting by senior Laura Kopald. Classmate Mary Moody recorded 10 kills and 12 digs and senior Emma Gunn added nine putaways kills on .368 hitting. Senior libero Taylor Phillips had a team-high 18 digs and Kaci Chriscoe also chipped in with 11 pickups in the match. Malikah French and Brittany DeCesare came up big with five and four blocks, respectively. Setter Taylor Whitley recorded a match-high 40 assists.
The Wildcats (9-6, 2-4 ODAC) were led by four freshmen: Grayce Darden had 11 kills, Shana Nelson added nine kills, Jordan Templin had eight kills and a team-high 16 digs and Kerry McMichael totalled 11 digs and 25 assists. Junior Megan Wheatley added 10 kills and eight digs in the match.
Guilford return to the Ragan-Brown Field House for another ODAC matchup Saturday (10/8) when it hosts Eastern Mennonite University at 4:00 p.m.
