Guilford Collects Over 14,000 Cans in Gate City Soup Bowl Food Drive

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Everyone was a winner last week as Guilford College was able to collect 14,342 canned goods and non-perishable food items to go along with the Gate City Soup Bowl game.

On the field, the Quakers tripled-up the Greensboro College Pride, 21-7, to claim their fifth-straight victory over their crosstown rivals.

In the week leading up to the game, both colleges were hard at work, facing off in a battle of their own, in the form of a canned food drive.

Guilford's collected goods were loaded up on a truck Thursday afternoon and taken to the Second Harvest Food Pantry.

The Quakers' athletic department would like to take a moment to thank everyone who donated and helped make this year's food drive successful. A special thank you to Corby Brooke and the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee who helped to plan and execute the drive, then spent a majority of Thursday loading up the truck.
