Quakers Pounce on Panthers to Claim Second Victory

FERRUM, Va. -- The Guilford men's soccer team recorded a 4-1 win over Ferrum College on Wednesday to move to 2-1 on the season. Ferrum drops to 4-0.

It took GC hardly any time to make its way on the board as Kenny Nzekwe was able to find the back of the goal at 5:13, helped along by Riley Copeland.

History repeated itself 23 minutes later as Nzekwe scored the Quakers' game-winner, with the assist credited to Copeland.

The score remained 2-0 for most of the second half, before Jasper Ardinger was able to extend Guilford's lead to three with his unassisted tally at 80:21.

Copeland dished out his last helper of the contest at 82:17, aiding Rodrigo Gudiño in recording his first goal of the season.

In goal, Roman Robinson was eyeing his second-career shutout, but his hopes were dashed as the Panthers were able to score with just 41 seconds remaining in the contest. Robinson recorded four saves.

Nzekwe finished the day with four points on two goals, while Copeland posted three points on three assists. The pair lead the squad offensively, each with 8. They have also both been credited with a game-winning goal.

Guilford will remain on the road as it travels to Warren Wilson for a 2 p.m. contest.
