FOREST, Va. – Guilford College Tina Eucker claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) Volleyball Player of the Week Award Monday. Eucker, a 5-7 senior setter, is the first Quaker so honored since 2010 and the first setter to earn the league's weekly prize this year.
Eucker helped the Quakers to a perfect 3-0 week with three straight road wins over league competition. She averaged 9.77 assists and 3.15 digs per set in Guilford's victories over Randolph College, Bridgewater College, and Eastern Mennonite University. Eucker also contributed nine kills, three blocks, and two service aces in 13 sets. She did not commit a ball-handling error.
Eucker started the week with a 38-assist, 15-dig performance at Randolph October 15. She set Guilford's career assists record in the Quakers' 3-0 win and now has 2,954 helpers in 93 games. Three days later the team captain set up 40 kills and picked up 11 digs in Guilford's 3-2 victory over Bridgewater in a match played at Randolph. The following day Eucker totaled a season-high 49 assists in the Quakers' 3-2 triumph over Eastern Mennonite. She also added 15 digs, three kills, and two aces in her 11th double-double of the season.
Eucker starts the week ranked fourth among ODAC assists-per-set leaders (6.92). She also contributes 2.76 digs and 0.26 service aces per set. Eucker stands third on the team in digs and aces.
Coach Emily Gann's club (15-7, 7-3 ODAC) puts its five-match winning streak on the line Friday night at 6:00 p.m. versus league-rival Emory & Henry College. Eucker and her fellow seniors will be recognized prior to the start of the match on the occasion of their final regular-season home contest.
