HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Despite going up 1-0 on a Liam Ward made free throw, hosting Greensboro College quickly took control and gapped out to a 14-7 lead at 12:41.

  • This ignited a fire under the Quakers as Ward put up eight straight points to put his squad up 18-16 at 4:52 on a big dunk.

  • With 9.8 seconds remaining in the half, Jaylen Gore went to the free throw line, but was unable to sink it. Guilford trailed 24:22 heading into halftime.

  • The second half proved to be eventful, as the pair traded points in the early goings, but mostly in favor of the hosts as they were putting up three-pointers compared to Guilford's twos.

  • Battling back, Guilford put up six-straight points to trail by only four, 40-36 with 12:52 left in the contest.

  • An answer from the Pride makes it 43-38, but Caleb Farrish comes up big with a layup and made free throw on a shooting foul to make it 43-41.

  • Ward carries the momentum as he evens the score at 43 after three minutes with no scoring. He then put the Quakers up 45-43 on a jumper.

  • A pair of Joah Logan free throws at 4:42 gives Guilford a lead it would not relinquish, 47-46.

  • Ward added five points on a jumper and three-pointer for a 52-46 lead, which eventually forced a Greensboro timeout with 1:01 on the clock.

  • With 20.4 seconds remaining, Julius Burch found a rogue ball in the paint, which allowed Guilford to use a timeout and advance the ball to its offensive zone.

  • The Quakes came away with a 57-51 victory over Greensboro after allowing it to post a layup in the final seven seconds to narrow the point margin.
