Undefeated Pride Roll Through Quakers

GREENSBORO, NC. -- The Guilford College women's basketball dropped an 89-44 decision to Greensboro College at home on Saturday afternoon.

 

THE BASICS

  • Records: Greensboro 4-0, Guilford 1-2

  • Score: Greensboro 89, Guilford 44

  • Location: Ragan-Brown Field House- Greensboro, NC

 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The first quarter opened with a 5-0 Greensboro lead, but Guilford was able to end the streak on a pair of Anayaih Randolph free throws to make it 5-2. 

  • Unable to throw off the visitors, Guilford called a timeout at 7:26 in the first quarter, trailing 8-2. It was Zy Benjamin who led the Quakers out of the timeout with her layup, helped along by Alexis Woods.

  • Despite being doubled-up by the visitor for most of the contest, Guilford carried its last second momentum off a Abby Kennedy layup and free throw thanks to a shooting foul into the fourth quarter, the most balanced of the day.

  • Only out shot by three (19-16), the Quakers put up a fight before ultimately falling 89-44.

 

LEADING THE QUAKES

  • Leading her team in scoring was J'la Hinson who put up 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had five blocks. 

  • Second in points, Anayaih Randolph scored 10 points. 

  • Abby Kennedy and Zy Benjamin both tied in rebounds with five, one offensive and four defensive.

Guilford remains at home on Sunday as it hosts former ODAC-foe Emory & Henry for another 2 p.m. meeting.
